FAMILY TIES

"This is Grandma and her mother.
On this pedigree chart, back here,
There's a picture,
An old, old, black and white
of Grandpa's brother."

We sit together,
The family scrapbook holding our eyes.
Those funny, dear old names
Reach out to this modern generation
With priceless family ties.
"Lets me see" each one pleads
And eagerly turns the pages.
Here and there a scripture,
A letter, poems, or a blessing
From 18th century family sages.

Our children snuggle closer
So anxious to see,
To feel a part of it all,
Of names linking names
In one forever family.
